Charles Sanders

A San Diego native and aspiring conservation biologist, Charles Sanders is passionate about the intersection of native horticulture and wildlife support. A Conservation Assistant at the San Diego Bird Alliance and volunteer at the Earth Discovery Institute, Charles brings practical experience in protecting our local ecosystems and their flora, and hopes to find innovative ways to protect and harden them against environmental stressors. Prior to pivoting to conservation and returning to college, Charles worked in manufacturing engineering for a local electronics company, and hopes to carry an innovative, can-do spirit into this next chapter of his life. In his free time, Charles paints, makes music, gardens, and cares for his many fish.

He is honored to receive the Mission Hills Garden Club scholarship as he transfers to SDSU this fall to complete his degree in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology, and continue his work in environmental stewardship.
