Candace is an environmentalist and an architect. Her presentation will cover the lifecycle of solitary bees, how to help them thrive and the installation and maintenance of a native bee shelter. San Diego has over 700 species of solitary native bees, many living in a backyard and providing pollination for flowers, fruit, and trees. In 2015 she founded Solobee to offer a native bee shelter that is handmade, beautiful and mimics a nest site like the ones native bees are searching for in nature. She uses salvaged wood from fences, deck, and waste mahogany from Taylor Guitars. Bee shelters will be available to purchase at the event.
